WE GATHER THIS EVENING TO DO THE IMPORTANT BUSINESS FOR THE CITY OF ALHAMBRA.

WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE IN THIS WONDERFUL COMMUNITY WITH SO MANY CARING PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT OUR MANY PROGRAMS AND CHARITIES AND SERVICE PROJECTS.

WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR OUR PUBLIC SERVANTS WHO SERVE OUR CITIZENS.

SO, SO CAREFULLY AND WONDERFULLY, AND WITH GREAT INSIGHT AND WISDOM OVER WHAT'S BEST FOR THE CITY.

START OFF WITH, UH, PRESENTATIONS PROCLAMATIONS FIRST UP, UH, INTRODUCTION OF THE COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND HOMELESS RESOURCES TEAM.

I LIKE TO INVITE A COMMUNITY SERVICES, DIRECTOR, KELLY FOOD, JO TO THE PODIUM FOR INTRODUCTION OF COMMUNITY OUTREACH, LIAISON DAVID AND GARY AND PAUL MAHONEY.

GOOD EVENING, MR. MAYOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL.

THANK YOU FOR ALLOWING ME TO PRESENT THIS ITEM TO YOU TONIGHT.

SO THE CITY COUNCIL HAS ALWAYS BEEN ON THE FOREFRONT OF THE CUTTING EDGE OF WHAT'S HAPPENING.

YOU HAVE ALWAYS PRIORITIZE WHAT'S IMPORTANT AND THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR THE RESIDENTS OF THE CITY OF LAHABRA.

RECENTLY YOU TASKED US WITH DESIGNING A COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAM TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF THOSE ON THE STREETS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS.

SO ONE DEPARTMENT CAN'T DO THAT ALONE.

SO WHAT WE DID IS WE BROUGHT TOGETHER THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT, THE ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES AND THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT.

AND WE DESIGNED YOU THAT PROGRAM.

WE DECIDED THAT THE PROGRAM MIGHT TAKE THE KINDER GENTLER WAY AT THIS TIME.

AND WE PUT TOGETHER A TEAM.

WE DEPLOYED THAT TEAM IN MAY OF THIS YEAR.

AND AT THIS TIME WE'VE SEEN A PRETTY GOOD GLIMPSE OF SUCCESS.

SO THE DEPARTMENTS HAVE WORKED TOGETHER AND THEY CONTINUE TO DESIGN WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO NOW IN THE FUTURE.

AND HOPEFULLY SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN, IT GIVES ME GREAT PLEASURE FOR, TO INTRODUCE TO YOU TONIGHT, OUR COMMUNITY OUTREACH, LIAISON, UM, COMMUNITY OUTREACH LIAISON TEAM.

WE HAVE DAVID AND GARY AND PAUL MAHONEY WITH US HERE TONIGHT.

THEY WILL TALK TO YOU ABOUT WHAT WE'VE DONE, WHAT OUR CHALLENGES ARE AND WHAT WE EXPECT TO HOPEFULLY DO IN THE FUTURE.

UH, SO WE'RE JUST GOING TO GET RIGHT INTO IT WITH THE FACTS.

UM, SO HOMELESSNESS IN THE HARBOR IS A CONCERN FOR, FOR EVERYBODY.

UM, RIGHT.

SO RIGHT NOW, UM, SPECIFICALLY WITH OUR LA HARBOR CLIENTS, UM, THAT WE HAVE THE MAIN BARRIERS, UM, INCLUDE MENTAL HEALTH, SUBSTANCE USE LOSS OF JOBS, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, AND OTHER RELATED AREAS.

UM, AS MANY OF US KNOW, UM, BUT THE UNIQUE PART ABOUT IT IN WHICH I AM BLESSED TO BE HERE WITH ALL OF YOU TODAY, IS THAT OUR TEAM MEETS THOSE SPECIFIC NEEDS OF OUR CITY.

UM, SO THE, THIS LAHABRA FUNDED PROGRAM, UM, AMONG OUR COMMUNITY SERVICE MEMBERS IN PD AND PUBLIC WORKS ARE MEETING THE NEEDS SPECIFIC TO OUR CLIENTS.

AND WE HAVE HAD GREAT SUCCESS SO FAR, UM, MEETING THOSE NEEDS FOR PEOPLE, UM, AND WANT TO TALK ABOUT OUR APPROACH.

SO THESE ARE JUST SOME STATISTICS AND YOU ALL HAVE OUR MONTHLY REPORT UP UNTIL, UH, JULY.

UM, SO AS KELLY STATED, WE HAVE BEEN HERE SINCE, UH, MAY AND WE'VE HAD 87 OUTREACH CONTACTS WITH CLIENTS IN THE CITY, UM, CONDUCTING OUTREACH AMONG OURSELVES AND WITH, UH, UH, PD, UM, WE'VE ENROLLED 58 CLIENTS IN OUR SERVICES, UM, PROVIDING SUPPORTIVE SERVICE SERVICES FOR THEM.

UM, THAT INCLUDES MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES, DETOX SERVICES, SHELTER SERVICES, SUCH AS

THAT, UM, WE'VE PLACED, UM, UP UNTIL JULY, UM, 15, UM, INDIVIDUALS IN SHELTER OR TRANSITIONAL PROGRAMS. UM, WE DO HAVE AN OUTREACH LINE, UH, UM, THAT ANYBODY CAN CALL COMMUNITY MEMBERS, UH, STAFF, UH, CLIENTS.

AND UP UNTIL JULY, WE RECEIVED 49 CALLS, UM, ON THAT, UH, LINE, UM, JUST REALLY BRIEFLY, UM, IN THE MONTH OF AUGUST, SO FAR, TODAY'S AUGUST 15TH, WE'VE HAD SEVEN EXITS SO FAR THIS MONTH.

THAT'S NOT REFLECTED ON THAT REPORT YET BECAUSE OUR AUGUST ONE IS COMING UP SOON.

UM, FIVE HAVE GONE INTO THE BARNETT PARK SHELTER AND TWO IN THE PLACENTA SHELTERS TO THAT BRINGS OUR TOTAL EXITS TO 21 SO FAR.

UM, SO, UH, AMONG OUR ARRAY OF SERVICES, OUR MAIN SHELTERS THAT, UM, WE REFER TO THAT, UH, THE CITY COLLABORATES WITH IS OUR POINT OF PARK NAVIGATION CENTER AND OUR PLACENTIA NAVIGATION CENTER.

UM, OUR OTHER SERVICES THAT WE PROVIDE TO CLIENTS HAVE BEEN REFERRALS TO MEDICAL DETOX, BACK TO WORK PROGRAMS, UH, MENTAL HEALTH TREATMENT, UH, SPECIFICALLY WITH, UM, OUTREACH AND ENGAGEMENT WITH THE HEALTH CARE AGENCY WHO COMES OUT, UM, EVERY OTHER WEEK MILITARY VETERANS SERVICES, WHICH IS THE VOA WHO COMES OUT ONCE A WEEK WITH US.

UM, AND THEN WE ARE CONTINUING TO, TO GROW A PROGRAM.

SO RIGHT NOW WE'RE IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING INTO HBS, WHICH IS THE COUNTY BASED SYSTEM.

UM, AND THAT'S GOING TO HELP US REACH THE NEEDS OF OUR FAMILIES AND OUR YOUTH AND HELP OUR CLIENTS GET ON TRACK FOR LONG-TERM HOUSING, UH, THROUGH THE COUNTY.

GOOD AFTERNOON.

AND AS WE SAY, THE END GOAL IS TO HAVE ALL THE, UH, THE CHALLENGE FOR US IS TO GET COMMUNITIES THEY LIVE IN AND GET THEM TO AGREE TO GO TO A PLACE SUCH AS WINNING THE PARK IN PLACENTIA.

UH, BUT WE'VE WORKED A LOT WITH DECLINES.

ONE-ON-ONE, WE'VE DEVELOPED A LINE OF TRUST THAT HAS BEEN WHAT, WHAT I'VE SEEN HAS BEEN THE GREATEST ASSET.

I'M PROUD TO SAY WE PUT OUR 21ST CLIENT IN THIS AFTERNOON.

UM, OUR EFFORTS HAVE ALREADY STARTED DELIVER GOOD RESULTS, AND WE HOPE TO CONTINUE TO BUILD AND IMPROVE ON THAT.

I WILL SAY IS HISTORY HAS TOLD ME WITH MY EXPERIENCE COMING FROM THE SHELTER BACKGROUND, THAT AROUND THE HOLIDAYS, WE TEND TO HAVE A SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BIT.

UM, FOR WHATEVER REASON, HOUSING AGENCIES AREN'T RENTING AS MUCH.

THERE'S, UH, YOU KNOW, THE PEOPLE GO ON VACATION, TAKE LEAVE CLIENTS THEMSELVES TEND TO STAY PLACE WHERE THEY'RE AT.

UM, BUT WE, WE ARE SEEING SOME REALLY BIG THINGS HAPPEN THAT I'M REALLY EXCITED ABOUT.

I THINK ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS THAT I'VE SEEN THAT I'VE MENTIONED BEFORE WAS WE'RE HAVING CLIENTS CALLING US, UM, GETTING OUT IN THE COMMUNITY.

I CAME FROM COSTA MESA AND DAVID CAME FROM SITTING AT, AND THEN PRIOR, YOU KNOW, HE WASN'T WITH THIS COMPANY FOR A MINUTE.

AND THEN, UM, WE GOT OUT THERE, WE PUT OUR NAMES OUT THERE.

WE GOT OUR CARDS OUT THERE AND PEOPLE ARE CALLING US REQUESTING SHELTER SERVICES.

SO WHILE THERE'S A LOT OF GETTING OUT IN THE STREET AND TALKING TO PEOPLE AND DOING A LOT OF OUTREACH AND SERVICES, THEY KNOW WE'RE THERE AND WE'RE MAKING THE DIFFERENCE.

I'D LIKE TO SHARE A COUPLE OF OUR SUCCESS STORIES.

I THINK ONE OF THE MOST TOUCHING ONES, I WAS COLLABORATING WITH POLICE DEPARTMENT ONE DAY AND WE WERE OUT AND GOT A CALL DOWN.

THE KING LIQUOR WENT DOWN THERE AND THERE WAS ABOUT FOUR OR FIVE PEOPLE DOWN THERE.

TWO OF THEM OPTED TO GO WITH ME, UM, WHY NOT TO NOT TO CONTINUE TO RIDE.

AND HE WENT ON HIS OWN, BUT THE OTHER FELLOW STAYED WITH ME.

I TOOK HIM OVER TO ST.

JOE'S HOSPITAL.

HE GOT DETOX.

HE GOT BETTER.

HE CALLED ME AFTER 4TH OF JULY.

HE HAD WALKED BACK HERE AND HE WAS SOBER AND HE CONNECTED WITH DAVID AND I, AND HE STUCK IT OUT FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS.

HE STAYED SILVER IN THE TREES BEHIND WALMART THERE.

HE ENDED UP GOING INTO THE ORANGE COUNTY RESCUE MISSION WHERE HE'S THERE TODAY AND HE'S THRIVING.

AND YOUR OTHER QUICK SUCCESS STORY THAT I LIKE TO TOUCH ON IS WHAT WE KNEW AS THE TRACKS CLIENTS THAT WERE RESIDING IN THE TRACKS AND CLIENTS THAT WERE RESIDING IN THE WASHES.

AND THEY'RE THE ONES WE'RE REACHING OUT TO RIGHT NOW.

UM, THE ONE WE PLACED A THURSDAY, I HAD MET HER WHEN I WAS OUT WITH POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEN I FIRST STARTED AND SHE CALLED ME CAUSE SHE REMEMBERED THE CARD AND SHE BIGGEST WORDS, I GET FELT LIKE WE COULD TRUST YOU.

AND SO THEY'RE COMING FROM UNDERGROUND AND WE'RE GETTING THEM INTO PLACEMENTS.

NOW, THE FELLOW I TALKED TO TODAY WAS WHEN I MET, WHEN I FIRST STARTED, THAT WAS IN THE TRACKS AND THEY STAY ON THEIR COVER, BUT OUR WORDS GETTING OUT THERE, YOU KNOW, WE MEAN WHAT WE'RE DOING.

WE'RE TRYING TO HELP THE BEST WE CAN.

AND THE RESULT OF THAT IS WE'RE BUILDING A LITTLE LINE OF TRUST THAT YOU'RE GIVING US A CHANCE.

SO WE'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE, ANY QUESTIONS OR ANYTHING THAT WE WENT OVER, SIR, THERE WE ARE.

WE'RE NOW ON, WHAT DO YOU THINK IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU'RE FACING OUT THERE IN THE STREETS? UM, QUESTION, I THINK IT WAS TRUST.

UM, THESE ARE NOT, BUT FOR THE MOST PART CHILDREN, YOU KNOW, THEY'VE BEEN AROUND A LITTLE BIT, THEY'D BEEN UP AND DOWN.

THEY'VE HEARD STORIES, YOU KNOW, A LOT OF IT'S, SELF-INFLICTED A LOT OF, IT'S NOT, BUT PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF COME IN AND THEY SAY THINGS WITH GOOD INTENTIONS AND THEY SOMETIMES CAN DELIVER.

AND SOMETIMES, YOU KNOW, THE, THEY DON'T.

AND AGAIN, REGARDLESS OF WHO IT IS, THE INDIVIDUAL SEES THEMSELVES AS BEING VICTIMIZED.

AND WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? THAT'S DIFFERENT.

SO I THINK THE BIGGEST WE WE'VE ESTABLISHED HAS BEEN A LINE OF TRUST AND THAT FELLA TOLD ME THE OTHER DAY, HE SAYS, PAUL, YOU KNOW, YOU DO WHAT YOU SAY.

YOU SAY WHAT YOU MEAN.

CAN WE TRUST YOU? UM, DO YOU NEED ANYTHING FROM THE COUNCIL? IF YOU CAN ADD A RESOURCE OR SOMETHING ELSE TO, TO MAKE, MAKE YOUR JOB EASIER OR MAYBE, UH, GET YOU CLOSER TO THAT GOAL, TO ANY THE HOMELESS ISSUE IN OUR COMMUNITY.

IS THERE ANY, ANYTHING ELSE THAT WE CAN DO AS ACCOUNTS THAT YOU THINK IS IMPORTANT? I THINK IT'D BE GOOD TO SIT BACK.

MAYBE HAVE A REFLECTION TIME, TALK ABOUT WHAT'S WORKING, WHAT'S NOT WORKING AND THEN MAYBE COME BACK FOR ANOTHER AROUND THAT, THAT I THINK INITIALLY WHAT TO SAY WOULD JUST BE YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT.

IT'S BEEN MYSELF SPEAKING FOR MYSELF.

IT'S BEEN AN AMAZING PLACE TO COME TO AND WORK FOR AND IT MAKES MY JOB EASIER TO, I GOT TO, YOU KNOW, YOU GUYS ALL HAVE OUR BACKS WHEN WE'RE OUT THERE.

WELL, I I'VE DEFINITELY HAVE SEEN BOTH OF YOU OUT THERE, VERY ACTIVE IN THE COMMUNITY AT, YOU KNOW, COLLABORATIVE.

AND YOU KNOW, IF THEY'RE, UH, UH, ON HILL HILLCREST DRIVE UP THERE FREQUENTLY HAVE SEEN BOTH OF YOU OUT THERE.

AND IT JUST WARMS MY HEART PARTICULARLY TO SEE A DAVID HERE WHO GREW UP IN THIS COMMUNITY.

HIS FOLKS GREW UP HERE AND A LONG HISTORY WITH SANTANA FAMILY.

AND I KNOW YOU'RE ACTIVE AT ROSIE'S A GARAGE FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.

SO AT WARREN'S MY HEART, A YOUNG MAN THAT GREW UP IN THE COMMUNITY, WHO'S BACK HERE WORKING WITH US AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE AND, AND, YOU KNOW, AS WELL AS YOU, PAUL, YOU'RE DOING A TREMENDOUS JOB AS WELL.

I'D LIKE TO ADD TO THAT PAUL AND DAVID, UH, YOU KNOW, WE'VE, UH, WE'VE, WE'VE TALKED ABOUT THIS FOR, UH, FOR THE LONGEST TIME FOR A FEW YEARS NOW AND IT'S COME TO FRUITION.

AND I THINK THAT THE, UH, THE PUBLIC, UH, THE RESIDENTS HERE IN LA HARBOR, IF IT DOESN'T RESONATE JUST 15, 15 EXITS AND NOW SEVEN MORE 21, THAT'S PHENOMENAL.

UH, I, AND I KNOW PAUL DAVID AND MIKE AND WE'VE, UH, WE'VE HAD A FEW CONVERSATIONS AT, UH, AT, UH, YEAH, AT OUR, AT OUR CONCERTS IN THE PARK, UM, WHERE, WHERE WE CAN, WHERE WE CAN, WE REALLY, WE CAN'T PULL EACH OTHER FROM, FROM, I, YOU CAN'T PULL ME OFF OF YOU BECAUSE WE'RE ENGAGED IN THESE CONVERSATIONS.

AND, UH, YOU KNOW, THE RAPPORT BUILDING THAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT IS SO IMPORTANT, UH, KELLY, THE, UH, THE, THE, THE, THE UMBRELLA EFFECT, BASICALLY OF ALL THE SERVICES THAT WE'RE ABLE TO OFFER, UH, BASED ON, UH, ON, ON MONEY WE'VE INVESTED IN TIME THAT YOU HAVE INVESTED, UH, AND YEAH, THAT, UH, THAT MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE.

SO THE PEOPLE OUT, UH, OUT IN THE HARBOR SHOULD KNOW YOUR NAMES, PAUL MAHONEY, AND DAVID, OR URI, UH, YOU KNOW, WHO, UH, WHO ARE ESTABLISHING, UH, A, AN UNPRECEDENTED AMOUNT OF SUCCESS, UH, WITH OUR, UH, WITH OUR HOMELESS, UH, UH, COMMUNITY, AS WELL AS, UH, WITH DARRA POLICE DEPARTMENT, UM, WHO HAVE, UH, WHO HAVE, WHO HAVE PAVED THE ROAD BEFORE HE GOT HERE.

BUT, UH, YOU WERE ABLE TO ADD A LITTLE EXTRA SPICE TO IT.

SO I, I WANTED TO THANK YOU ON BEHALF OF THE CITY COUNCIL.

AND SO OUR RESIDENTS KNOW THAT, UH, WE, UH, WE, WE TAKE THIS SERIOUS AND, UH, IT IS A HUMANITARIAN APPROACH.

UH, THE CITY COUNCIL HAS APPROVED MILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF FUNDING THAT HAS GONE INTO THREE REGIONAL SHELTERS, KRAMER BRIDGES AT KRAMER FACILITY, WHICH ARE, WHICH IS OUR FIRST PROJECT.

WE HELP FUND THAT WE ARE ABLE TO UTILIZE.

AND THEN THE TWO NAVIGATION CENTERS AND ONE A PARK AND, AND PLACENTIA THAT WE'VE HELPED NOT JUST FUND THE CONSTRUCTION OF, BUT THE ANNUAL OPERATIONS OF, AND WE SPEND HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS A YEAR BETWEEN OPERATING THOSE TWO SHELTER FACILITIES.

PLUS NOW BRINGING ON THIS HOMELESS LIAISON TEAM, AND WE'VE HAD A HOMELESS OUTREACH OFFICERS, UH, HOMELESS LIAISON OFFICERS IN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR OVER FIVE YEARS WORKING AS A TEAM.

SO THIS TEAM IN THE, IN THE, WHAT I'LL CALL THE COMMUNITY SERVICES SIDE WORKS IN CONJUNCTION WITH OUR HOMELESS LIAISON TEAM AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT COLLABORATIVELY.

BUT REALLY LIKE THEY SPOKE IS THE FOCUS IS TO, TO TAKE MORE OF A COMMUNITY SERVICES APPROACH TO IT THAN LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND REALLY ONLY HAVE TO UTILIZE LAW ENFORCEMENT WHEN IT'S NECESSARY TO DO SO.

BUT IN MOST CASES, THEY'RE HAVING A LOT OF SUCCESS ON THEIR OWN.

PAUL COMES WITH A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF EXPERIENCE FROM COSTA MESA.

AND, UH, AS YOU GUYS KNOW, DAVID WORKED FOR SITTING AT WHEN SITTING ON, I THINK FIRST GOT THE CONTRACT HERE IN LAHABRA.

SO HE ALREADY KNEW A LOT OF THE PLAYERS IN THE CITY, AND THEN HE WAS ABLE TO TRANSITION VERY EASILY TO OUR TEAM.

UH, AND THEN MOST RECENTLY COUNCIL'S APPROVED A, A PILOT PROGRAM FOR SUPPORTIVE HOUSING.

SO THERE'S A WHOLE SERIES OF TOOLS NOW AVAILABLE TO US THAT WE DIDN'T HAVE BEFORE.

I WAS HERE BEFORE COUNCIL AND I WANTED TO BRUCE BRIEFLY TOUCH ON SOME OF THE CHALLENGES WE'VE EXPERIENCE, WHAT WE'VE DONE TO OVERCOME THOSE CHALLENGES AND WHERE WE'RE AT NOW.

UH, ONE OF THE BIGGEST THINGS WE'VE BEEN FACING IN OUR INDUSTRY, AND I THINK YOU COULD PROBABLY TALK TO ANY BUSINESS AND BUSINESSES HERE IN THE CITY AND THROUGHOUT THE NATION OF IMPACTS WITH CHALLENGES WITH STAFFING.

THAT'S ONE OF BEEN OUR BIGGEST CHALLENGES FROM DRIVERS TO MECHANICS, TO CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES.

OVERALL, WE'VE BEEN DOING THINGS AND PUTTING PROGRAMS IN PLACE TO BE ABLE TO OVERCOME THESE CHALLENGES.

UH, WE'VE ALSO EXPERIENCED SUPPLY CHAIN ISSUES AS WELL IN TERMS OF EQUIPMENT VEHICLES AND EVEN PARTS AND SUPPLIES THAT WE NEED TO MAINTAIN OUR VEHICLES AS WELL.

ADDITION TO OTHER PROGRAMS HAPPENING THE STATE HAS EXPANDED RE RECYCLING REQUIREMENTS THAT HAVE ALSO PUT AN IMPACT ON STRAIN.

ALL THESE THINGS HAVE PUT A STRAIN ON OUR CURRENT SERVICE DELIVERY.

WE RECOGNIZE THAT AND SOME OF THE THINGS WE'VE DONE, WE PUT IN PLACE ARE INCREASING OUR RECRUITING STAFF.

WE'VE TRIPLED THEM.

WE'VE INCREASED OUR BENEFITS AND PAY FOR EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR STARTING BENEFITS AS WELL.

WE'VE ALSO ENCOURAGED OUR EXISTING EMPLOYEES TO HELP AND OUR RECRUITING EFFORTS BY PROVIDING EMPLOYEE BONUS REFERRAL PROGRAM AS WELL.

AND ALL OF THESE THINGS WE'VE DONE TO INCREASE OUR HIRING CAPACITY AND BRING ON MORE OF OUR STAFFING TO MEET THESE CHALLENGES.

UM, DRIVERS, A LOT OF OUR DRIVERS THAT WE NEED, IT'S AN IMPACT IN TERMS OF TRYING TO FIND STAFFING FOR THEM.

THE DRIVERS THAT WE HAVE BROUGHT ON BOARD FOR OUR TEAM, MOST OF THEM DON'T TYPICALLY HAVE INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE.

SO WITH THAT COMES CHALLENGES IN TERMS OF THEM BEING FAMILIAR, GETTING ON BOARD AND BEING ABLE TO, UM, COMPLETE THEIR ROUTES AND BE ABLE TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THEIR ROUTES.

SO WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THOSE CHALLENGES AND WE WANT TO, WE CERTAINLY WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AS WE'VE GONE THROUGH THESE AND WHAT WE'RE DOING TO ADDRESS THESE.

I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT AS OF NOW, UM, WE HAVE OUR STAFF WE'RE FULLY OPERATIONAL FOR LAHABRA.

WE HAVE FULL DRIVERS AND OUR TEAM HERE SERVICING THE CITY, BUT WE DO HAVE SEVERAL NEW TEAM MEMBERS AS WELL, AND THEY'RE STILL LEARNING THEIR ROUTES.

AND WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS SIX MONTHS AGO, THE STATE HAS REQUIRED ORGANICS IMPLEMENTATION AND WE IMPLEMENTED SOME PROGRAMS AND SOME INDIGENOUS THINGS FOR THE CITY OF LA HABRA TO ADDRESS THESE RESIDENTIAL, HAPPY TO INFORM THAT'S ONE THAT WE'VE BEEN WELL AHEAD OF THE CURB.

JUST AS A REMINDER, ALL RESIDENTS HERE WITH SINGLE-FAMILY CART SERVICE, THEY CAN PUT ORGANICS FULL ORGANIC.

SO BEYOND JUST YOUR GREEN WASTE YARD CLIPPINGS, THIS ALSO INCLUDES YOUR FOOD SCRAPS AS WELL.

SO WITH THIS LAW GOING TO EFFECT IN JANUARY ONE OF THIS YEAR, WE'VE ALSO EXPANDED TO MULTIFAMILY AND COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS.

SO THAT'S, WE'RE WORKING WITH STAFF IN TERMS OF THAT WE'VE DONE OUTREACH LETTERS AND NOTIFICATIONS THESE CUSTOMERS TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT WHAT'S REQUIRED UNDER THE LAW AND HOW WE CAN HELP THEM GET ON BOARD WITH A PROGRAM.

IN ADDITION, THERE ARE WAIVER PROCESS.

SO THERE ARE COMMERCIAL BUSINESSES THAT DON'T GENERATE FOOD.

OR IF WE HAVE AN ORGANIZATION THAT MAYBE IS UNDER THAT THRESHOLD, WE'RE WORKING WITH STAFF IN TERMS OF PROVIDING A WAIVER PROCESS.

SO THEY CAN APPLY FOR THAT AS WELL, ALL TO ENSURE THE CUSTOMERS ARE IN COMPLIANCE MULTI-FAMILY COMPLEXES.

AND SOME OF THOSE PRESENTATIONS WE ACTUALLY DO AT THE JUNIOR HIGHS.

UH, WE'VE HAD A LOT OF SUCCESS WITH BICYCLE SAFETY AT OUR SCHOOLS.

UH, WE BRING OUT A PRETTY COOL BMX SHOW, BUT IN THAT SHOW, THEY TALK ABOUT BICYCLE SAFETY AND WE ALSO PASS OUT, UH, BICYCLE HELMETS AT IT.

UM, AND THEY'LL PASS YEARS.

ONE OF THOSE, UH, SUBJECTS ARRESTED ALSO WAS ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM.

38 TOTAL CITATIONS WERE GIVEN BEYOND DUI.

WE ALSO DO THE CHECKPOINTS EXAMPLE OF THAT IN DECEMBER OF TWENTY ONE, SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY ONE VEHICLES PASS THROUGH IN THAT WE HAD FIVE FSTS, UH, WHICH IS FIELD SOBRIETY TESTS TO DUI, IRS, UH, NUMEROUS OTHER CITATIONS.

SO NOT ONLY DO WE, UH, ENFORCE DUI, WHICH IS, UH, A NUISANCE TO EVERYONE IN THE CITY, BUT WE ALSO FOCUS ON OTHER TRAFFIC RELATED ISSUES.
